About CapstoneCalc
CapstoneCalc is a free suite of grade calculators for students: what you need on the final, weighted class grades, test averages, GPA on the 4.0 scale, and plain-English answers to questions like "what grade is 42 out of 50?".
How it works
Every calculator runs entirely in your browser — no accounts, no stored data, no "sign up to see your result". Type your numbers, press calculate, get the answer. Refresh the page and nothing remains.
Our conventions
Letter-grade mappings follow the most common US 10-point scale (90/80/70/60 with plus-minus bands in thirds), GPA uses the standard unweighted 4.0 convention, and the what-do-I-need-on-my-final math is the same weighted-average algebra your professor uses. Every page reminds you that your syllabus is the final authority, because it is — schools vary on cutoffs, rounding and weighting, and no calculator outranks the registrar.
Why "Capstone"?
The site began as a capstone-semester side project, built by a student who was tired of re-deriving the same "what do I need on the final" algebra every December. It's maintained as a permanently free tool, supported by advertising rather than subscriptions or data collection.
