How this is calculated
Divide the points earned by the points possible and multiply by 100: 12 ÷ 25 × 100 = 48%. On the common 10-point-band scale that lands in the F range — you'd have needed 23/25 to reach the A band.
Common questions
What's the difference between weighted and unweighted averages?
An unweighted average treats every score equally: add them up, divide by the count. A weighted average multiplies each category by its share of the grade first — homework 20%, midterms 40%, final 40% — which is how most courses actually work. If your syllabus lists category percentages, you need the weighted version.
Why does my school's GPA differ from this one?
Schools differ on three things: whether A+ counts as 4.3 or 4.0, whether plus/minus grades are used at all, and whether honors/AP courses are weighted above 4.0. This calculator uses the most common unweighted convention (A+ = 4.0, minus/plus in 0.3 steps). Your registrar's number is the official one.
