Free Accounting Help
Accounting is the most front-loaded course most business students take. Miss the logic of debits and credits in week two and nothing afterwards can be followed, only memorised.
Why accounting grades actually slip
Everything in financial accounting rests on one identity — assets equal liabilities plus equity — and on the fact that every transaction keeps it balanced. Students who internalise that can reason out an unfamiliar journal entry. Students who memorised "debit expenses, credit cash" without understanding why are helpless the moment a question is phrased unusually, and intro exams are full of unusual phrasings on purpose.
The second reliable failure is the adjusting-entries chapter, where accrual accounting appears and the intuitive link between cash and income breaks. Accrual is genuinely counterintuitive — revenue recognised without cash received — and most of the hard exam marks live here and in the statements that depend on it.
Accounting exams are also long and arithmetic-heavy. Speed matters, and speed only comes from having done many entries rather than having read about them.

What to do with the time you actually have
If you have the rest of the term
Do journal entries daily in small volume rather than in weekly blocks. This is a skill subject like an instrument; frequency beats duration. Say the reasoning aloud: what increased, what decreased, does it balance.
If you have a week
Work full problem sets end to end — transaction through journal through ledger through trial balance through statements. Partial practice hides exactly the errors that compound.
If you have tonight
Drill adjusting entries and the structure of each financial statement. Know which account belongs on which statement without hesitating; that alone is a meaningful share of the paper.
Work out what you actually need first
Before you spend a weekend on this, get the number. If the final is worth 20% and you are sitting at 88%, an A needs 98% and a B needs 48% — those two facts call for completely different weeks. Run your real numbers through the final grade calculator, then come back and pick the plan that matches the gap. The finals-week triage guide covers how to split time across several courses at once.
