Biology looks like the course you can pass by reading, which is exactly why so many students read for twenty hours and score badly.
Why biology grades actually slip
Biology carries a very large volume of material, and volume invites the least effective study method there is: re-reading. Re-reading produces a strong feeling of familiarity and almost no ability to retrieve anything under exam conditions. The research on this is unusually clear, and biology is where the gap between feeling prepared and being prepared is widest.
The second issue is that modern biology exams are not the memorisation tests their reputation suggests. They ask you to predict what happens when a step in a pathway is blocked, or interpret an experiment. That requires knowing why the pathway has the shape it does, which re-reading does not supply.
Diagrams carry disproportionate marks and are disproportionately skipped. If a process has a standard diagram, assume you will be asked to reproduce or interpret it.

Everything below is free to use without payment. The note on each one says when to reach for it, because the usual problem is not a shortage of material — it is picking the wrong kind of material for the stage you are at.

What to do with the time you actually have
If you have the rest of the term
Replace re-reading with retrieval: close the book and write out the pathway, then check. It is slower per hour and several times more effective per hour. Draw every major diagram from memory at least twice.
If you have a week
Convert your notes into questions and answer them cold. If your notes cannot be turned into questions, they are a transcript rather than notes.
If you have tonight
Walk through the handful of processes most likely to be examined and say what breaks if each step fails. That is the form the hard questions take.
Work out what you actually need first
Before you spend a weekend on this, get the number. If the final is worth 20% and you are sitting at 88%, an A needs 98% and a B needs 48% — those two facts call for completely different weeks.
